A photobook from guest photos is a printed book built from the pictures your guests took and uploaded at the wedding. Wedding Studio prints one straight from your live guest album, a 32-page softcover from $59, with no export step in between. Mixbook, Shutterfly and Artifact Uprising sell the object and leave the sourcing to you: you download your photos, upload them somewhere else, then lay out every page by hand.

You'll be doing this months after the wedding, with the album sitting on your phone and nothing printed to show for it yet. Half the frames in there are of you, taken by people you were too busy to sit down with on the night.

How a photobook from guest photos actually works

The album is the source file. Guests scan the printed card on the table and upload from their phones, and the photos land in your guest album at full resolution. When you order the book, it prints from that album.

1. Set the guest album up before the wedding. If you haven't done that part yet, what a wedding QR code does walks through what a guest sees between scanning and uploading.
2. Guests upload through the night. The printed card that gets them uploading in the first place starts at $29 and carries the code for your album already.
3. Order the photobook from that same album once the uploads have slowed.

The printing step is one click. Deciding which photos belong in 32 pages takes far longer than the ordering does.

Two ways to turn guest photos into a photobook

The DIY route starts with a download. You upload the photos into a photobook maker and arrange every spread yourself, which buys full control of the layout and costs an evening or three.

The other route prints from the guest album the photos are already in. No file moves anywhere.

Ours is $59, printing and delivery included. Artifact Uprising's wedding guest book is the closest product on that table to ours in shape, and it starts at $165 before shipping. Mixbook's $14.99 is a base configuration, priced before you choose a size or a paper and before anything ships.

We re-checked every QR photo-collection provider in our comparison set in July 2026. Pix Wedding is digital only and supplies Canva templates for cards. Fotify advertises full-resolution files that print well and ships no printed product. WedUploader and Wedibox both publish blog advice about wedding photobooks and sell none. Wedding Studio is the only provider in that set that prints and ships a book.

What DIY photobook services do better than we do

Mixbook and Artifact Uprising beat us on materials and on choice of format. Artifact Uprising's Layflat Photo Album has a plant-based linen cover hand-stamped in foil and flush-mount pages that lie fully flat. Mixbook sells four bindings across six sizes, so a specific paper weight or trim size is a choice you can make there and can't make with us. We print one size, in softcover or hardcover, and bet the whole thing on where the photos come from: they're already in the album your guests filled.

If you've already picked your favourites out and you want an evening controlling how every spread looks, buy from Mixbook or Artifact Uprising. Mixbook's entry price buys a base softcover you configure upward from, and Artifact Uprising's buys a general softcover rather than the wedding guest book.

Wedding guest photo book: two products share the name

Shutterfly's and Artifact Uprising's wedding guest books are made before the wedding. You supply the photos, the printer leaves blank space beside them, and guests write in it on the night.

The book on this page is printed afterwards, out of what your guests photographed. If what you want is the pictures your guests took, bound and delivered to you, that's the one to order. If you want something for guests to sign at the reception, that's the guest book decision, made before the date.

How many photos fit a 32-page photobook

Between 32 and 128 photos, and about 96 is the number to aim at. Shutterfly's guidance puts 1 to 4 photos on a page, which across 32 pages runs:

• 1 a page: 32 photos, each with a page to itself.
• 2 a page: 64.
• 3 a page: 96, which is the density we'd pick.
• 4 a page: 128, dense but still readable.
• Collage layouts: 150 and up, where the individual frames stop being looked at.

That's printer guidance about photobooks generally rather than a specification for ours. WedUploader's blog lands in the same place: 20 to 40 pages for a wedding album, and don't crowd the spreads.

You're cutting, and cutting hard. Two passes work better than one. Run through the whole album fast, marking yes or no on instinct, then go back over the shortlist and kill the near-duplicates. Fourteen phones pointed at the first dance produce fourteen versions of it.

Three ways to narrow it down, depending on what you want the book to be:

• Chronological. Getting ready, the ceremony, the meal, the dancing. Guest uploads carry timestamps, so the order already exists and you're only choosing depth.
• One table at a time. Two or three frames per table, so every group who came is somewhere in the book. This is the version parents ask to borrow.
• What the photographer couldn't reach. The bar at eleven, the kids under the top table. This makes the thinnest book and the most interesting one.

Why full resolution matters for print

A 12MP phone photo is roughly 4000 by 3000 pixels, which prints cleanly at 8x10 inches and larger. That's the file sitting on the phone in your guest's pocket.

The copy that reaches you through a chat app is a different file. WhatsApp resizes the longest side to around 1600 pixels and re-encodes it as JPEG. Messenger took one tested photo from 2592x4608 down to 1152x2048, a 2.25x reduction in each dimension.

On a screen you'll never see the difference. At 8 inches wide on paper you will: soft edges on a face, and blocky grey in the shadows of a dark dance floor.

When your album is ready to print

There's no upload deadline on the album, so nothing forces the decision. Photos keep arriving for days after the wedding, from the guests who meant to upload on the night and fell asleep instead. Your album stays open, and stays stored for 12 months after the wedding date.

Print when new uploads stop appearing. A week of silence in the album is a reasonable signal, and there's nothing lost by waiting longer.

Working backwards from a date changes the answer. If the book is a first-anniversary gift or something to hand your parents at Christmas, order well before it. We don't publish a production and delivery window for the photobook, so give it the runway you'd give any printed keepsake.

If the wedding is still ahead of you, create the guest album and pick a printed card suite first, because the book has nothing to print from until your guests have filled it.
