From observations of San Jose weddings, officiants here are increasingly tasked with creating ceremonies that blend tradition and personal expression. Our research into San Jose shows that couples often seek bilingual or interfaith officiants to reflect their families’ backgrounds. Whether the ceremony is held at Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph or outdoors at Kelley Park, the officiant plays a central role in setting the tone.
